Using Scratch App on the Ipads
P5P really enjoyed using the Class Set of Ipads to explore a new App, ” Scratch”. Working in pairs, the children were able to create scenes with characters, before programming them to follow various commands. Everyone agreed that this was a very useful App and P5P are already looking forward to having another go at ” Scratch”.
In November, P5P enjoyed three lessons with P5M from Presentation PS. The first two of these lessons were based upon Izak9, a Maths cube, which generates Problem Solving activities. To successfully complete all the Problems, the children had to work really hard together in their Groups. Those who finished first were usually those who worked best as a team. It was marvellous for P5P to meet new friends and share their Numeracy Learning experiences together. As you can see from the pics below, every child wore a joint Hart/Presentation T-Shirt, although a lot of these had to be washed after the children had fun together on the mucky Adventure Trail at Hart Memorial!!
More Shared Education
For our third Shared Education lesson, both classes took time to explore the lives of children in different parts of the World. Our study concentrated upon children in war torn Syria. Many Syrian children were homeless after fighting in their cities and many more hadn’t eaten for days. All of the children appreciated learning about children, who are not as fortunate as themselves. It was great to see each other again and P5P and P5M are already looking forward to meeting up for the fourth time on 26th February, 2018!
After having a go at Scratch Junior on the Ipads, P5P attempted the much more difficult Scratch V2. This is a visual based Computer Programming activity that requires each pupil to design their own set of commands. These have to be very accurate and properly put into the Computer to enable them to work. NOT EASY AT ALL!!! However, the boys and girls really enjoyed working things out and managing their own characters.
It’s Tuesday afternoon, which means Swimming Lessons at Brownlow Pool!!!!
P5P look forward each Wednesday to Coach Steve’s arrival in School for Healthy Kidz. This is a fun workout, giving the children the opportunity to greatly improve their strength, balance, flexibility and general fitness. There are always a few red faces at the end of each enjoyable session!!
Save Energy, Save Money
That was the message delivered by Elaine from Bryson House, who gave both P5 Classes an informative talk on reducing our Energy usage, especially at home. Hopefully, there will be no more lights left on at home by Hart Memorial P5’s after Elaine’s advice today!!!
Mathletics in P5P
Mathletics is an online Numeracy Resource, which the children love using. In fact, the better you do, the more points that you can get. Points then lead to Certificates! Here are those earned by children in P5p this week.
