Hart Memorial Nursery caters for 52 children on a full-time basis. The nursery is financed and maintained by the Southern Education and Library Board.
Staff are highly trained nursery specialists and we take great pride in being very aware of the individual learning needs of every child in our care.
We work hard to forge strong, positive relationships between home and school to ensure each child feels happy and secure in their new surroundings.
Parents play a vital part in our programme and they have the opportunity to help with trips, attend workshops, performances, nursery nights and volunteer for our parent-help rota from the second term.
Our curriculum covers the six areas of the pre-school curriculum. Children are gently supported and encouraged to grow in independence, self-esteem and confidence. Active participation in carefully planned play situations will help stimulate their curiosity and imagination, extend their concentration, observation and reasoning skills while building on the early maths and science concepts they are beginning to acquire.
Nursery staff will also encourage your child to express their ideas confidently and develop the listening skills so vital to their language development. Musical experiences will also help to reinforce listening skills as they experiment with sound, pitch and rhythmic patterns.
We want you to realise that nursery school is your child’s first step on their journey through education. We will do our best to create a safe, stimulating environment and to make this first experience a very happy and rewarding one.
